Michael Lee Firkins
Cactus Cruz
The Story
"Cactus Cruz" is another Michael Lee Firkins' instrumental masterpiece which displays his inimitable faux slide guitar solos over compositions that range from rock to bluegrass to jazz swing, combining to create a cohesive album that all guitar fans should own. Firkins even throws in a surprise - a cover of Quincy Jones' theme song from the TV series, "Sanford & Son" - that the guitarist makes his own, with wah wah growls and his signature wail. Firkins' original compositions on "Cactus Cruz" are tuneful, up-tempo numbers that showcase his formidable six-string talents; highlights include "Freeway Lines", "Saturday Night" and "Midnight Surf".
