Mary's Magnet is a modern rock band with strong emotion, subtle dynamics and energy as evidenced on their self-titled promo CD. Led by guitarist Andy Rothstein, their bio describes their sound as, "...a cross between Soundgarden, King's X and the Beatles." The Beatles influence shows up the strongest on their CD, with Rothstein's guitar work and soloing distinguishing the group from their heroes. The band writes some very likable rock music, well-performed and produced and with an edge you'd expect from a New York area based band. Highlights from their CD include the opening two numbers "Love" and "Since You've Been Lost" and "Circle". Band members include Rothstein, bassist and vocalist Tony Senatore (who has toured with Pat Travers) and drummer Lou Petto (who has gigged with the instrumental band One More Once).
Guitarist Andy Rothstein started out as a student of Steve Khan and Vinny Zummo (of Joe Jackson) before beginning his career in the New York City clubs with The Prayer in the early '90s. He formed Mary's Magnet in 1995 with bassist Senatore and long time friend and drummer Lou Petto. Andy has authored a variety of transcription books for Hal Leonard Publishing under the pen name of Andy Robyns. Some of his published transcriptions include Alice In Chains ("Dirt") and Nrivana ("Incesticide"). Andy favors a custom Sadowsky Strat, a Steinberger and Ovation guitars.
Mary's Magnet continues to play live shows in support of their new CD.
