Yngwie J. Malmsteen
Fire And Ice
The Story
A blazing 1992 release from Yngwie Malmsteen with three instrumental tracks ("Perpetual", "Leviathan" and the brief acoustic "Golden Dawn") is "Fire And Ice", with more aggression than "Elipse", and a guitar tone reminiscent of early Rising Force albums. A few tracks feature a classical small string chamber orchestra, while Goran Edman lends his throat work throughout the album. Reviewer Andy Craven writes, "Well, this album is simply superb. All the tracks are of the highest calibre, with the slight exception of 'Teaser' (which is still a strong track by anyone else's standards), but this doesn't detract from the quality displayed throughout. Yngwie used a very strong band used for this album and the fact that every member was Swedish probably accounts for the more European sound displayed throughout every song. Some of Yngwie finest songs are here - 'How Many Miles To Babylon', 'C'est La Vie' and the title track are among the best Yngwie has ever committed to tape. The production is superb and overall I cannot fault with this album. A classic."
